Genesis 2:18-24

Intro: The reason for our social and moral decline is the undermining of God’s authority and His Word. We are in a spiritual battle and if we continue to lose our country we will have lost the greatest moral institution ever.

I. Marriage is made by God the Father. A. God planned a bride for Adam, see Genesis 2:18. B. God provided a bride from Adam, see Genesis 2:19-22. C. God presented a bride to Adam, see Genesis 2:22-23.

II. Marriage is managed by God the Holy Spirit, see Genesis 2:24. A. There is the principle of leaving. B. There is the principle of cleaving. C. There is the principle of becoming one flesh.

III. Marriage is marked by God the Son. A. God made Eve out of Adam’s wounded body, see Genesis 2:21. B. God built Eve to be Adam’s bride, see Genesis 2:22. C. God designed Adam and Eve to be one, see Matthew 19:6 and Ephesians 5:28-32.

Personal Application: 1. Is your marriage marked by Jesus Christ or 2. Is it marked by toil and trouble—God can fix it by joy and forgiveness! 3. God calls some to be single and some to marriage, see 1 Corinthians 7:32-34.

Genesis 2:1-4

Intro:     Do you get run down? It is spiritual to work hard and to rest (body & soul). See Matthew 11:28.

I.     God’s rest, Genesis 2:2. Why did God rest? See Isaiah 40:28. This is not the rest of exhaustion but, rest of satisfaction.

II.    God’s established rest, Genesis 2:2-3. Set apart for blessing—a day of fruitfulness, see Exodus 20:8-11.

III.   God’s worship, Genesis 2:3. Any form of service. See Hebrews 4:1-4 and Hebrews 4:9-10.

Personal Application:

  • Time for a pause/reflection.
  • God gave us an example to follow, see Genesis 2:1-3.

Note: Work is good and honorable; Jesus knew and modeled hard work.

Genesis | No Comments »

Does it really matter whether the earth is 6000 years old or six million years old? Was the earth really created in six, 24-hour days or were there large gaps of time between the days, or were the days really thousands of years in length? The answers to these questions are vitally important and they form the foundation of people’s faith.

Genesis | No Comments »

The first verse of the Bible is the foundation of all which is built—the whole of Scripture. If you can believe the 1st verse of the Bible (Genesis 1:1) then you can believe the rest of the Bible, and the converse is also true. Genesis is the book of beginnings.
